Photography

I have my father to thank for my love of photography. He bought me my first camera (a Nikon D60) the same year I decided to study journalism.

When I was growing up, my father always had his camera on him. We would head to Point Pelee National Park and walk the trails. We'd follow lightly worn footpaths in search of birds and their nests. He'd lift me up so I could peek inside and spot the eggs. Some, on the cusp of hatching. And then there were the monarch butterflies fluttering from patches of milkweed, filling up before taking flight to Mexico. We were always exploring, and it's a characteristic I've carried with me.  I'm still walking down lightly worn footpaths, with camera in hand, trying the capture the world the way it presents itself, but also how I interpret it.

Taken in Mexico City. I had just returned from getting a coffee when I turned a corner and spotted this happening in the Zocolo. I abandoned my coffee and ran across the street. Had I hesitated, even for a minute, I would have missed the shot.

Below are some of my favourite photographs.
